ARC DECRA Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Centre for Disability Studies

The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) at the University of Sydney seeks Expressions of Interest from outstanding early career academics working in Disability Studies and related areas, to apply for the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme, for funding commencing in 2023.

Interested candidates with demonstrated expertise and publications in Disability Studies and/or related disciplines in the social sciences and health sciences (social work, psychology, public health, occupational therapy, speech pathology, gender studies, education, sociology etc) are welcome to submit an Expression of Interest to CDS. Candidates must have obtained a PhD within the last 5 years (some types of career interruptions are permitted exceptions).

CDS is particularly interested in project proposals focusing on the following topics:

  • Ageing and intellectual disability
  • Housing and intellectual disability, and ageing in place
  • Health access/utilisation and clinic-related research
  • Inclusive research practice
  • Higher education for people with intellectual disability
  • Employment and intellectual disability
  • Transition and intellectual disability.

Please send your CV, and a one page summary of your proposed project, to cds@cds.org.au by the 3 of September 2021. People with a lived experience of disability are particularly encouraged to apply.

Candidates with successful EOIs will be supported by CDS through the application process at the University of Sydney, which opens on the 8 of September and closes on 17 of November 2021. Results will be announced by the ARC in the third quarter of 2022.
