About Sian

Sian is an experienced lecturer and researcher with a strong track record in qualitative research, curriculum development and teaching in disability studies, social work and social policy.

Sian’s research has explored the stigma attached to the social identities of people with intellectual disabilities, and projects about self-advocacy, self-advocacy support work, models of supported living, community inclusion and participation and the use of social media by people with intellectual disabilities. She has also worked on the evaluations of community programs in abuse prevention, living options, employment and the hidden disabilities ‘Daffodil’ scheme.
