Facilitators

The talk is led by Dr James Smith, Clinical Lead of the Statewide Intellectual Disability Mental Health Outreach Service (SIDMHOS)

James trained and worked as an intellectual disability psychiatrist in the United Kingdom. In 2022 he moved to Australia and is employed by Sydney Local Health District to lead SIDMHOS.

SIDMHOS is funded by the Ministry of Health. It helps local services across NSW work with adults where there are concerns about their mental health and behaviour

James will talk about what good mental health support looks like. He will also talk about how to get mental health support in New South Wales.

James will be joined by a person with an intellectual disability. They will talk about their experience of finding help for their mental health.
