The CDS Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Elizabeth (Liz) Convery as Chief Executive Officer of CDS, commencing Monday 17 August 2026.
Dr Convery joins CDS from her role as Head of Research (APAC) at The Behavioural Insights Team, a global research and innovation consultancy focused on understanding human behaviour to address complex policy challenges. In this role, she led research strategy and capability across the Asia-Pacific region, strengthened research governance and quality, and oversaw major programs of work translating evidence, stakeholder insight, and lived experience into practical policy and service improvements.
Dr Convery brings more than 25 years of experience across health, disability, and human services, including senior leadership roles in research-focused and purpose driven organisations. She is a highly respected researcher and executive leader with deep expertise in evidence translation, stakeholder engagement, human-centred research methods, and the development of practical policy and service frameworks. Her appointment reflects CDS’s continued focus on delivering rigorous, inclusive, and impactful work with and for people with intellectual disability.
CDS Chair Amanda Mead said: “We are delighted to welcome Dr Convery to CDS. Her experience, leadership, and commitment to our vision, purpose, and values position her strongly to lead CDS into its next phase.”
Dr Convery holds a PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (Audiology) from the University of Queensland. She has authored or co authored 28 peer reviewed journal articles and eight industry publications, and has delivered more than 30 national and international conference presentations, including keynote addresses.
The Board looks forward to welcoming Dr Convery to CDS and supporting her as she leads the organisation into the future.
