Person Centred Active Support
What is it?: Person Centred Active Support is a way of working that enables everyone, no matter what their level of intellectual or physical disability, to make choices and participate in meaningful activities and social relationships. When support workers use Person Centred Active Support, it leads to a better quality of life for people living with disability.
Delivery: 1 x day class-based training (can be online or face-to-face) PLUS 1 x day hands on training in the participant’s workplace. This second day is an important part of the learning process and enables our trainer to:
- spend time alongside the training participants as they work with the people they support
- observe and provide feedback to help training participants develop and refine their skills
- help training participants to reflect on your own practice
- provide new ideas and suggestions about activities that could be used with the people the training participant supports
Target audience: People who support people living with disability. This can include staff in training centres, residential settings and other support worker roles.
Note: Delivery modes can be tailored to the specific needs of each organisation.
